Ruto allies angered by the photos of President Kenyatta being received by interior CS

Oct 16, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Deputy President William Ruto supporters are angered by what they described as humiliation of the second-in-command after State House shared photos of Interior CS Fred Matiang’i receiving President Uhuru Kenyatta while the Deputy President was watching at the KWS Law Enforcement Academy in Manyani, Taita Taveta County.

In photos shared by the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), President Kenyatta can be seen alighting from a military helicopter upon which he acknowledges greetings from Matiangi who had been lined up ahead of Ruto, marking a departure from established protocols whenever the President arrives at a venue where the Deputy President is.

According to protocols, the president should have beeen received by the deputy president. If the DP is not around, he should be received by the speaker of the National Assembly, leader of the majority or any Cabinet secretary available.

These actions saw Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and an avid supporter of the DP ridicule the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security, Fred Matiangi, calling him the Deputy President.

“Deputy President Fred Matiang’i receiving the President thereafter introduced other Cabinet members. Those of us who didn’t witness the last days of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta ‘will see things’ in the next 22 months,” tweeted Murkomen.

“Those of us who didn’t witness the last days of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta ‘will see things’ in the next 22 months.” Murkomen went on.

MP Millicent Omanga said the breach of protocol reminded her of how the late President Daniel Moi was frustrated when he was a vice president.

“This reminds me how Moi was frustrated as vice president by people who didn’t want him to ascend to the throne. The rest is history,” she said.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi sarcastically wondered whether the distance they observed was a security recommendation.

“Is the distance they keep on the recommendation of their security teams?” he asked on his Twitter handle.

Hundreds of critics poured in their criticisms through the State House social media pages and Twitter.

“Yaani, Matiangi kweli thinks he is second in command! You’ve got no shame !!” Said Joseph Kipkorir.
