April 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The ruling faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) under the leadership of the South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardiit said it will try a homegrown mechanism to try to reunite it with three other factions of which are armed while others seek regime change from abroad and yet has solidarity with armed colleagues and so it will conduct a meeting that will bring together several factions of the fragmented SPLM party lately this Month.
South Sudan’s Vice President said in a statement on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation that the SPLM factions namely SPLM-IO under the country’s First Vice President Taban Deng Gai, SPLM Former detainees under the leadership of the SPLM Secretary general Pagan Amum. The statement also said the government has extended the invitation to the Armed SPLM faction led by the country’s former first vice president Dr Riek Machar Teny.
The SPLM reunification process is a mechanism launched in late 2015 by the Tanzanian’s ruling party CCM and South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) to try unite the warring parties of the SPLM. The same year, SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum traveled to Juba and was instantly reinstated to his position but travel outside the country shorty after accusing the government of of targeting him.
