Dec 17, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan President Salvar Kiir Mayardit held a meeting with the Chairperson of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC), Maj. General Charles Tai Gituai in which they addressed the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
According to the president’s press secretary, the two leaders were to review the progress of the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
“The purpose of the meeting was to review the progress made in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and to discuss the pending issues that needs to be achieved,” stated the statement by the press secretary.
Maj. General Charles Tai Gituai said that they deliberated on the status of the implementation of the peace agreement.
He also urged President Kiir to put in more efforts in the implementation process.
“In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Charles Tai Gituai said, they deliberated on status of the implementation of every chapter of the Peace Agreement and urged H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit to step in more efforts towards the implementation of the Peace Agreement,” the statement added.
Charles Tai said that the issues they raised to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit are very crucial and instrumental in moving the Peace Agreement forward.
According to the chairperson of RJMEC, the president responded positively and even gave his feedback on the course he would like the Revitalized Peace Agreement to take despite the challenges.
“H.E. President Salva Kiir responded positively and gave his plans and feedbacks on how he intends to move forward with the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement despite the challenges’” the statement continued.
In attendance to the meeting was the Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial.
