February 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Rival South Sudan governors of Bieh State who met in Waat on Wednesday have agreed to set up military cooperating to control crimes including cattle rustling and revenge attacks.
Johnson Gony Bilieu, the South Sudan governor of Akobo state, Simon Hoth Dol, the SPLM-IO governor of Bieh State and Moses Majok Gatluak who met in Waat last week also agreed to set up mobile network in the area to easy the dissemination of peace agreement.
In a statement issued following the meeting, the three governors said they have agreed to “Disseminate [the peace agreement] and [to] sensitize the people of greater Lou about the revitalized peace agreement and its implementation.”
They added that they will establish and maintain military cooperation between the rival parties to keep laws and orders in the state.
“[We have agreed to] maintain military cooperation and control crimes that may cause harms among innocent civilians. Allow free movements of civil population who may move between government and [SPLM] IO controlled areas, but all officials and military personnel on both sides shall move with pass from their respective authorities,” they said.
They said they have also agreed to allow “free humanitarian access of to our vulnerable communities particularly the war affected areas of both [SPLM] IG and SPLM-IO respectively” and that “will also open Zain and MTN networks to expedite peace messages in different parts of Lou-Nuer land.”
