February 18, 2022—The parties to the revitalized peace agreement on the Resolution of the Conflicts in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) have resolved to finalize the representation of the army command in 7 days.
The decision came yesterday during the meeting of the Presidency in the presence of the Deputy Chairperson of the Sudan Sovereign Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr Martin Elia Lomuro said the decision was reached after presentations of reports on the progress of the implementation of the peace agreement.
In a report seen by Nyamilepedia, 50,000 forces have been screened and ready for graduation.
“.. About 50,000 forces have been identified, reorganized and are ready for graduation”, the report says.
According to the report, the presidency has directed the Joint Transitional Security Committee (JTSC) to come up with the graduation timeline.
Sudan’s Deputy Chairperson of the Sovereign Council, Gen. Mohamad Hamdan Daglo, came to Juba on Tuesday following an invitation extended to him by President Kiir to attend the meeting of the Presidency meant to deliberate on the outstanding issues of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
