February 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A group of rebel officers who defected last year from the South Sudan United Front and Army (SSUF/A) to the government have rejoined the Malong-led rebel movement, a senior aide to Malong told the Nyamilepedia.

Last year, a group of military officers led by Ajang Ajang who claimed that he had ousted Malong joined the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit accusing Malong of rejecting to negotiate a peaceful settlement to the ongoing conflict with the South Sudan government.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia from the Kenyan capital Nairobi on Saturday, Deng Chapath Makuach, a senior member of the SSUF/A said four rebel officers who defected to Malong last year rejoined the movement and that they met Malong in Nairobi to confirm their loyalty.

“Those are officers who defected with Ajang last time. All of them came back to General Malong. They [include] Col. Peter Lual Dut Lual, Lt. Col. Wol Mayen Makak Mayen, Lt. Col. Deng Dut Agiu Deng, Lt. Col. Thiep Thiep and Lt. Col. Aleu Anyuon Deng,” he told the Nyamilepedia from Nairobi.

“The army who went to Juba with Ajang [Ajang] came back to SSUF with the exception of Chan Garang and Ajang Ajang himself only. They came two weeks from now,” he added.
