October15th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese rebel groups clashed on Sunday in Yei River state among themselves leaving five civilians dead according to a rebel spokesman.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition  (SPLM-IO) led by the former First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, said on Monday that they have been attacked by forces loyal to Thomas Cirilo in Yei River State which he said led to death of five innocent civilians.

“Yesterday the 14/10/2018 the forces of NAS attacked the SPLA IO position in Minyori, Yei River State killing five civilians and injuring several others leading to displacement of many civilians in to Yei town and further into the bushes for safety,” said a statement issued by Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, the deputy SPLA-IO spokesman.

He said the same forces loyal to Gen.Thomas Cirilo had attacked their forces in Logo area killing 12 worshipers.

According to the SPLM/A(IO), Thomas Cirillo’s breakaway faction could be declaring a full scale war against the recently signed peace agreement since Cirillo and his group failed to sign.

“They also attacked our base in Logo killing 12 worshipers. This is a direct declaration of war against the signed R-ARCSS by Gen. Thomas Cirillo since he refused to sign it,” he said in the statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

In a separate incident, the SPLA-IO spokesman said government troops, which are  stationed in Mboro, have been on offensive against their troops in several villages in the area.

“Secondly, the regime’s forces based in Mboro has been on constant offensive against the SPLA IO positions in Ngisa, Tado, and Ngoku from 03/10/2018 to yesterday the 14/10/2018 causing unwanted lost of lives both civilians and military besides further displacement of civilians,” he said.

He claimed that the government troops have abducted an SPLA-IO officer whom they identified as John Andrea along with his wife on Sunday.

“They also captured and abducted Col. John Andrea Kangandi Known as (John Kofi) along with his wife yet to be identified by name in Ngoku,” he said.

He further said “These attacks have been premeditated and planned by commanders of the regime in Juba to widened their territory and deny any establishment of cantonment sites in the area.”
