February 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A rebel general of the South Sudan United Movement (SSUM) led by General Peter Gatdet Yaka has issued a statement announcing the ouster of Gen. Gatdet as the Chairman.

This come a week after Gen. Gatdet’s Deputy announced his defection citing leadership failures by the rebel chief.

In a statement issued last week,  the group’s Secretary General, Maj.Gen Tuut Gatjuol said Gatdet is leading the country into wrong direction.

“The Chairman Gen.Peter Gatdet Yak is leading the Party in the wrong direction by turning it into family-led party that can negatively affect the diplomatic roles of the Party,” he said in the statement.

“Therefore, the Leadership Council of South Sudan united Movement has taken measures by disowing the party’s Chairman from the Party because he is out of leadership capabilities by leading the Party in wrong direction,” the statement added.

The general accused Gatdet of killing and imprisoning military leaders without military justice as well as looting local traders as well. They also accused him of not being for peace.

“The Chairman of the movement is not committed to peace since he violates the cessation of hostility signed according to Revitalized peace agreement by attacking the SPLA-IO military base,” it added.
