February 28th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s long-awaited Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) will be formed on Monday, a senior government official said.

There have been disagreements between the parties to the revitalized peace agreement on how to divide ministerial portfolios.

The former government under Kiir wants to maintain ministries of defense, interior, finance and petroleum while the SPLM-IO under Machar wants these ministries divided between the two.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Friday, a government official said in Juba that an agreement had been reached and that the government will have defense and finance ministries while petroleum and interior will go to the SPLM-IO.

“An agreement has been reached. The former government will take defense and finances ministries. The IO will have petroleum and interior plus other ministries,” the government official told Nyamilepedia from Juba on condition of anonymity.

He however said other discussions over other ministries like foreign affairs were underway and said “hopefully all will be agreed upon by Saturday afternoon.”
