December 17, 2021— At least seven senior government officials in Jonglei State capital Bor were evacuated from their offices hours after they were locked up by protesters on Tuesday.
According to reports from the state capital, Bor, protesters shutdown the state’s General Secretariat which is the State Headquarters as the demonstration over the new salary structure continued.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Deng Ghai Deng, the Editor-in-Chief of the Radio Jonglei reveals that the Secretary General of the Workers’ Trade Union in Jonglei State, Samuel Majier Loch said civil servants would continue with the protest until their demands are met.
“They promise to pay the salaries with full allowance as demanded by the civil servants but we won’t trust them because they have violated several agreements”, Loch said in a statement.
Last two days, the civil servants in Jonglei State took it to the streets protesting against state government’s reluctance from increasing their salaries.
