May 18, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – As South Sudan’s coronavirus cases rise, a prominent bussinessman in the world’s youngest nation has died of COVID-19, this afternoon in the country’s capital Juba, sources familiar with the issue have confirmed.

Athiana Achiek Majok, a prominent bussinessman who owns many shopping centres and other businesses in both Juba and some states was infected by the virus about two weeks ago and have been treated at a local hospital before he could be taken to Dr. John Garang infectious Disease Center (JGIDC) yesterday night, according to a close source.

“He was being treated at a private hospital in Juba and yesterday when his situation worsened, he was taken to the Center,” one source said.

“The problem is that some of our people first seek treatment somewhere and come to the government medical facility when their situation is worse and late to be handled by the doctors,” the source added.

Athian is a prominent businessman who owns shops and shopping centres as well as different business in the capital Juba.
