January 28, 2022 — Exams for South Sudan’s Primary Eight leaving certificate are expected to kick-off by February, the Minister of General Education announced.
In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, South Sudan’s Minister of General Education, Awut Deng Achuil says primary pupils will sit for exams next month.
“The ministry of general education and instruction has declared the 14th of February the start of 2021 certificate of primary education exams”, the statement reads.
According to the statement, a total of 53,220 candidates have been registered of whom 31,232 are males and 21,988 are girls to write their papers that are expected to end on 18 February.
Addressing the media yesterday morning, the Minister of General Education Awut Deng Achuil, urged concerned authorities to ensure security and integrity during examinations.
Minister Deng also urged Central Equatoria state to pay the teachers allowances as soon as possible prior to commencement of examination day.
The education across the world has been affected by pandemic leaving thousands of kids dropped out from schools and South Sudan has not been an exception.
In addition to COVID-19 pandemic, South Sudan education has been affected by floods and civil war that have displaced millions of people across the country and especially greater Upper Nile comprising of Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile state.
