“President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar were briefed at the State House on Wednesday by the High Level Committee for structuring of both the States and local Government after the completion of their task on allocation of responsibility sharing of States Government amongst the various parties.” Read a statement released by the presidential press.

The Minister of Energy and Dams Peter Marcello told the media after the meeting that President Salva Kiir has blessed the work of the Committee and urged the Parties to present the list of the names of their nominees for the appointment of the States government next week.

The statement said that the government is ready to fasten the implementation of the peace agreement so that peace can prevail in the country.

“Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime reassured the readiness of His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit the President of the Republic of South Sudan and his government to fasten the implementation of the Peace Agreement for a lasting peace to prevail in the country,” the statement continued.

South Sudan peace agreement, which was signed over two years ago, has met numerous challenges in the last two years but despite the slow progress, the officials are hopeful that this barely progressive deal is better than war.

With except of intra-party defections and conflicts, the two main warring parties have ceased fighting since February this year and the minister of defense, among other officials, pledged that the army will start graduating the unified forces from November this year, a promise that has been made a few times in the past but didn’t materialize
