President Kiir travels to the United Arab Emirates.

February 18, 2022 — South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has traveled to the United Arab Emirates this morning in response to an invitation by the government of the UAE, according to the presidential Press Unit.

According to the Presidential Press Unity, President Kiir left the country to attend “the Dubai Expo” at the invitation of the Government of the UAE.

“.. His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic has today (Friday, 18th February 2022) left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the Dubai Expo at the invitation of the Government of UAE,” Presidential Unit stated in its official page.

In addition to attending the Dubai Expo 2020, president Kiir is expected to hold bilateral discussions with the leaders of United Arab Emirates during his three-day visit.

” H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit is expected to participate in Dubai Expo 2020, and hold bilateral discussions with the leaders of United Arab Emirates in his three-day visit ,” the Presidential Press Unit stated in statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.

The statement emphasized that Kiir was accompanied by the Presidential Advisor on Security, Presidential Affairs Minister, Foreign Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Culture, Minister of wildlife conservation, and Director of External Security at the NSS.

During his departure, Kiir was seen off by the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, who has remained acting in his position.

“. The South Sudanese head of state was seen-off at Juba International Airport by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and a number of government officials”, the statement further elaborated.

The visit came months after President Kiir sent a high-level government delegation comprising of at least 50 senior government officials including ministers and senior security personnel ahead of his visit to Dubai.
