President Kiir meets Kenyan Envoy to South Sudan in his office.

Juba, South Sudan

May 12, 2022 — South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, met Kenyan Special Envoy, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries on Thursday, May 11, 2022.

In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, the Kenyan Envoy applauded President Kiir for reaching out to the people of Kenya during the celebration of life of Kenyan Former President Emilio Mwai Kibaki.

Kalonzo described President Kiir’s sympathy to People of Kenya as significant gesture which they cannot take for granted.

“. The Kenyan Special Envoy conveyed a message of gratitude from President Uhuru Kenyatta to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for attending the State Funeral service of the late Former Kenyan President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, and The Envoy described it as of great national importance for Kenya”,the statement released by Presidential Press Unit stated.

The Kenyan politician reiterated that he was disturbed by disrespectful remarks that were aired by Kenyan media and attributed to an exiled activist Dr. Peter Biar Ajak. Kalonzo appreciated that the Kenyan media house has apologized to President Kiir.

“.. Dr. Stephan Kalonzo expressed that H. E. President Uhuru Kenyatta is dismayed that some of the Media negatively portrayed the presence of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the State Funeral service, and expressed that atleast the Media House has issued an apology to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the people of South Sudan for the unethical behaviour”,the statement added.

Musyoka further explained that Kiir is a President of a Sovereign Nation and he doesn’t represent himself but the people of South Sudan and as such he should be respected.

” H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit gave him assurance that what was done by the Kenya media cannot spoil the relations between South Sudan and Kenya” statement emphasized.

According to the statement, the duo also discussed the progress of the implementation of South Sudan peace agreement and the political situation of Kenya.
