May 11, 2021 — South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has dissolved the National Dialogue Steering Committee that has been staggering for almost five years in attempts to consolidate the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan, signed on September 12, 2018.
The Steering Committee, led by co-chairmen elder Abel Alier and Hon. Angelo Beda, handed over their final document to president Kiir in his office on Monday to signalize the end of their work that left barely significant impact.
“Monday 10th May 2021- His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, met with the leadership of National Dialogue Steering Committee and presented to him the final resolutions and communique of the National Dialogue Conference.” Said the Office of president Kiir.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Co-Chair of National Dialogue Steering Committee Angelo Beda said they have handed over the final document of the National Dialogue to the President.
H.E. President Salva Kiir commended the National Dialogue Steering Committee for the great work and promised to pay attention to the document to implement its resolutions and the communique.
The National Dialogue Steering Committee was dissolved through a presidential decree that was read on the state-owned SSBC on Monday evening along other decrees.
