October 20th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Leaders of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan living in exile have expressed discontentedness over lack of support from partners saying since 2014, following the outbreak of violence in South Sudan, it has been challenging to some communities living in remote areas.
In a joint statement extended to Nyamilepedia from Kenya, the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan Associate Administration Coordination Committee, warned that if this neglect continues without being amicably resolved by the partners, then the Church congregations in opposition-held areas will be left with no option.
“We the concerned [leaders] of the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan, (PCOSS) in exile, are tired of a partial service or no service at all to the communities where the government have no interest,” Rev. John Rell Bath said on behalf of the committee.
John added that the church is organizing a committee that will look into similar issues in the rebel-held areas.
“In this case, we are working hard to put in place the Associate Administration that. will take care of the communities in opposition-held areas, and those in exile wholeheartedly in all aspects of human being, be it spiritual, psychological, emotional and physical needs as well,” he added.
The church leaders of the PCOSS revealed that, they’re working to extend the new administration to greater heights in an effort to sidetrack partners from delivering partial services to some churches that are reachable in the Government-controlled territories.
“Not only that but also transforming the Church ministry into reality by putting into action the following core values; integrity, honesty, consistency in upholding the norms and regulations of this Church, humility and transparency in our operation. We are going to internalize the constitution of this Church, not externalizing it by making it looks good just to attract partners and their support while there are a lot of irregularities and inconsistency locally and nationally,” they added.
The committee called on partners and well-wishers of the (PCOSS) to stand in solidarity with South Sudan’s church congregations in hard-to-reach areas.
“We are going to own this Church by action and deeds We therefore genuinely ask our partners friends and well wishers to support and stand In solidarity with us the Christians under Associate Administration during this war and its destruction and during the post war for some time,” they added.
