Police ordered to arrest ex-Western lakes governor over corruption charges

July 2nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan police has been ordered to arrest former Western Lakes state governor John Madeng Mamer over corruption charges according to a copy of the order obtained by the Nyamilepedia.

According to the order dated June 26th, “John Deng Mamer stands charged with the offence under section 346/223/283 of the penal code act, 2008” and the police “are directed to arrest the said person and bring him/her before the crime officer in charge in the police station.”

In a related development, the ex-state finance minister, Mario, has been arrested after police found 4 million SSP and 8,200 USD in his residence.

While the whereabouts of the ex-governor remains unclear, Nyamilepedia was unable to reach him for comments.
