Speaking to the media, Owety Olung, the acting county commissioner of Pochalla, said armed men suspected to have hailed from Pibor were involved in the attack.

“This morning (Wednesday), some Murle youth attacked Buoy village in Awetaballa Payam killing a man and injuring another one. They were repulsed but no one died from their side,” Acting Commissioner Olung told media on Wednesday.

The top local official suspected that the attackers might have carried out the raid with the aim of abducting children.

On his part, Charles Wello Onyony, an Anyuak lawmaker in the National Legislative Assembly, condemned the attack and called for immediate intervention of government to arrest the situation.

Meanwhile, John Abulla, the deputy GPAA chief administrator, said he had no clue of the reported incident.

“This information has not been shared with us here in the headquarters,” Abulla said.

“But we will talk to our security guys there to update us if it is true.”, added.
