Peter Lam Both names as Acting Secretary General of SPLM.

August 19, 2021—The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) under the Chairmanship of President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed new Secretary General of the party.
Peter Lam Both has been appointed as Acting Secretary General of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) by President Kiir replacing the Former Minister of Parliamentarian Affairs Jemme Nunu who was appointed last month as country’s first female speaker of parliament.
Peter Lam is also the spokesman of the SPLM party and served as State Governor of defunct Latjor State in a unilateral established 28 states of Salva Kiir.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, President Kiir Mayardit has appointed Peter Lam during meeting of SPLM Political Bureau, the executive decision making body of the party to succeed Jemme Nunu Kumba who served as party secretary since the outbreak of South Sudan Civil War.
Lam is a long served Cadre of the SPLM who devoted his time to work for the betterment of the party.
Peter Lam served as State Minister of Information and Communications in Upper Nile State from June 2010-May 2012.
He was also appointed as SPLM Deputy Secretary for External Relations on August 28, 2009.
He was previously posted to Canada from May 2006- November 2008 as the first official Representative of the SPLM to Canada.
He was charged by the SPLM leadership to organize SPLM Chapters in various cities of Canada and to rally the support of the Government of Canada for SPLM and Government of Southern Sudan.
Under extremely difficult conditions, he helped form 14 SPLM Chapters across the country with membership of over 4000.
