August 15th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Peacekeepers of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) reportedly used tear gas to separate fighting Nuer clan during the fighting which took place between yesterday and the day before it,  several sources have confirmed.

The Bul and the Leek Nuer yesterday fought a fierce fighting over undisclosed cause leading to the death of about four people with 16 others sustaining injuries.

One source told the Nyamilepedia this evening that the UN peacekeepers had to use tear gas to separate the youth from the two feuding Nuer clans to avoid further escalation of the violence.

“The United Nations troops and police used tear gas yesterday. They had to use the tear gas to be able to separate them because they don’t want to be separate, ” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

Fighting has been going on for the last two days between the two clans and has let to the death of innocent lives,  another resident of the camp also told the Nyamilepedia.

“Those people who were killed had nothing to do with the initiating of the fighting,  the real perpetrators are safe,” he added.

Nyamilepedia could not independently verify what could be the cause of the fighting.
