January 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s peace monitoring body, the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangement Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) have launched investigation into Wonduruba and Luri incidents.
Last week, the holdout opposition and South Sudan army traded accusations over massacre of civilians in Wonduruba village near the capital Juba in which 20 civilians were killed by gunmen.
Few weeks earlier, soldiers of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) attacked and detained members of the peace monitoring body, the CTSAMVM, in Luri, a neighborhood few kilometers west of the capital Juba.
In an exclusive brief statement to the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, the CTSAMVM strategic communications officer, Ruth Feeney, said the peace monitoring body have launched investigation into the two incidents.
“CTSAMVM have launched ongoing investigations into the recent incidents near Wobduruba and the incident involving the CTSAMVM Team in Luri,” she told the Nyamilepedia.
She further added that all findings regarding these investigations will be made public “in the coming weeks.”
In a separate statement on its social media Twitter page, the CTSAMVM “welcomes the progress being made by the Joint Defense Board,” adding that “We stand ready to work with all stakeholders to ensure the permanent ceasefire agreement is fully implemented.”
