January 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A group of political leaders have dismissed Josephine L. Yanga as the leader of the pro-SSOA People’s Democratic Movement (PDM).

The PDM split into two in September following the withdrawal of its leader Dr. Hakim Dario from peace talks in Khartoum accusing IGAD of taking side after their demands including the application of federalism were rejected.

Some of the PDM members including Yanga denounced Dario and stayed behind in Khartoum to form a separate faction of the group and remained with SSOA.

In a statement issued on Monday,  the PDM Secretary General of the group, Malish David Simon, said they have decided to suspend Yanga because she is acting against the will of the group and for supporting Changson after the party decided to support Gen. Peter Gatdet as the elected leader of SSOA.

“We in the PDM have decided to dismiss Ms Josephine L. Yanga as PDM Interim Chair with immediate effect from the date of this statement,” David said in the state’s seen by the Nyamilepedia.

The statement further said the group will resume it’s leadership in the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka.

“PDM will henceforth resume its full membership in SSOA under the leadership of the elected Chairman, Gen Peter Gadet Yak,” We shall inform the public shortly about our new leadership lineup and the way forward,” he added.

The statement accused Yanga of forcing herself “into the centre of the events with her unprincipled [and] weak leadership style which is crowned by her lust for power and monecy.”

“It was at this stage that we discovered how weak, unprincipled and corrupt our interim chair was,” it added.
