November 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The meeting of the parties to the revitalized peace agreement initially set for today has been adjourned for tomorrow after the extension of the pre-transitional period for three months, an opposition spokesman said.
The Addis meeting which would have decided on the fate of the Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) ahead of a next week deadline was called for by the regional body, IGAD, which mediated the 2018 peace dead last week.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar agreed during a meeting in Uganda yesterday to extend the pre-transitional period for 100 days to allow for implementation of the provision of the revitalized peace agreement.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, the SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang said the meeting initially set for 8th November has been adjourned for Saturday, 9th November.
“The summit will take place tomorrow November 9th according to the meeting agenda set to the parties by the IGAD,” Balaung told the Nyamilepedia from the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
He said a high-level delegation of the SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar Teny would “depart [Khartoum airport] at 5:00 pm today.”
