August 31st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Former Secretary-General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Pagan Amum Okiech said Friday that he has formed a new political group.
Amum told the Nyamilepedia that the new opposition group which is a member of a new opposition alliance formed in Hague Friday is called Real-SPLM.
According to Amum, the new opposition group aims to revive the vision of the SPLM, a former rebel movement which fractured which fractured into several groups in December 2013.
“The Real SPLM is a new organization that aims to regroup the committed members of SPLM to revive the real SPLM vision and project of building a modern democratic and secular state in South Sudan capable of serving the people of South Susan and to implement the the democratic project of nation building,” Amum told the Nyamilepedia Friday.
He said three groups including his new movement resolved to established a three-member leadership council following the Hague meeting.
The three members of the council will be General Cirilo, General Paul Malong Awan and Amum himself.
“Also we have created a leadership council to coordinate our work and provide a collective leadership to the struggle of our people to bring about democratic transformation and achieve a just peace,” Amum further said.
