August 19th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior official of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) has blamed peace implementing security mechanisms for delaying activities despite the allocation of funds by the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC)

Wilson Dak Wal, an opposition delegate in Juba said the NPTC had allocated money to the security mechanisms such as the Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC), the Joint Transitional Security Committee (JTSC) and the Strategic Defense and Security Review Board (SDSRB), but nothing has been done and the blames for the government over the funding has continued.

Time after time, we put the blame on the government and the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) for not being serous in approving funding for the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, without realizing that the issue is far-fetched, this time I will blame all security mechanisms for being reluctant while they are being given all the resources needed,” he said.

The Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC) and the Strategic Security and Defense Review (SDSRB) are some of the key security mechanisms entrusted with overseeing the implementation of the peace deal.

Last month, a government official told the Nyamilepedia that around $3 million had been allocated to the various security mechanisms in a bid to accelerate the implementation of the peace process.

The source said the funding was not used as intended.

“On July 27, more than $ 3 million was approved by the NPTC and given to all security mechanisms to begin the process of screening and training armed forces: JMCC $ 1.7million, JTSC $ 1.1million and SDSRB $ 300,000. With all this money nothing has been achieved so far,” the source disclosed.
