July 29th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) under the leadership of South Sudan’s former FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon on Saturday accused troops loyal to South Sudan government of provocations.

For the last few days, there has been calm in most parts of the country barely one month after two principals, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and Salva Kiir Mayardiit signed a permanent ceasefire agreement in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.\

In a statement issued on Saturday, the SPLA-IO deputy military spokesman Col. Lam Paul Gabriel said the regime in Juba is trying to ignite war as it sought to install the commissioners of unilaterally created counties in Yei River State.

“In a defiant move against the HLRF forum taking place in Khartoum, Sudan, the regime’s Deputy Governor of Yei River State left Yei town escorting Wani Jackson Mule, Henry Kala Sabuni and Lokonga Julius to be installed as the commissioners of the unilaterally created counties of Liwolo, Kangapo and Nyepo counties respectively in greater Kajo-Keji. They were escorted by 13 Land Cruisers and 2 trucks full of SPLA soldiers,” the statement said.

He such activities which he said are against peace came in a wrong time when the warring parties have agreed in Khartoum to sign and cease the fighting in an effort to end the ongoing civil war in the young African country.

“These Anti-peace ventures are happening when the warring parties have signed a permanent ceasefire and also initialed the KRA, yet it is not the first time that the regime has deliberately provoked and attacked our positions since the declaration of the permanent ceasefire in Khartoum,” he said.

The statement urged the international and regional communities who are the guarantors of peace to investigate and held those responsible accountable for their actions.

“The SPLA (IO) therefore, calls upon the CTSAMM, UNMISS, IGAD and the TROIKA to use their conventional power to investigate and restrain Juba regime from defiantly aggression the SPLM/SPLA (IO) with an aim to undermine and get rid of the ongoing peace process,” the statement further said.
