April 4, 2022—Steve Kay presentation dates back to 2013 and 2016, tracing the causes of violences and “the senseless wars” that had been peacefully resolved on the bases on definitively political conflict on 12 September 2018.
The Revitalised Agreement on Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), signed by the two leaders: President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President Riek Machar Teny, is now a part and parcel of our national constitution.
Based on this constitution, the parties were abled to share a Transitional Coalition Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) in order to implement the R-ARCSS in “letter and spirit,” they told the world. The R-TGoNU is now about to end its constitutional life.
Is there any meaningful reason to retrospect the historic narratives that triggered the wars?
Of course, the answer is definitely no if the R-TGoNU still holds. This video is therefore, irrelevant if the two leaders are still in the box of R-ARCSS and R-TGoNU.
As humble citizens of South Sudan, who fought for just freedom and independence for half a century (1955-2005), we should forth with, stay put in peaceful resolution of political conflict among the then warring parties. We categorically reject any step back to war. Our prior option is just peace.
