Ruweng, South Sudan
July 5, 2021 — At least a woman was killed and a man sustained non-fatal injuries in the latest attack in the Ruweng Administrative area.
According to a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, the incident reportedly occurred at Magon cattle camp on Saturday night about 10km from Pariang town.Â
Miakol Makuac, the Director of Information in Ruweng, told media that the youth in the area repulsed the attackers and recovered several head of cattle on Sunday morning.
Makuach believes that the attackers might have come from Unity State, however, he didn’t specify the county from which they came from.
” The attackers came from Unity State and were the same group that staged two similar attacks in the last four weeks”, he added in a statement.
According to past reports, it is very rare for Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Area to engage in cattle related disputes but they only have political issues which have nothing to do with cattle.
Ruweng Adminstrative Area, which is made of two counties Abiemnhom and Pariang that used to be part of Unity State until recently when President Kiir decided to give Ruweng its own administrative bloc.
At the time of this report, Nyamilepedia could not verify the casualties and the number of cattle that were raided or recovered.
