Nyirol County Attacked by Armed Murle Youth.

Jonglei State, South Sudan

March 24, 2022—Authorities in Jonglei State said the armed youth from Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) attacked Nyirol County’s Tut Payam yesterday on 23rd of March 2022.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the Jonglei State Information Minister and Postal Service John Manyuon stated that the attack was carried out around 5:00PM leaving nine dead and six others wounded.

“.. They wounded six people and killed nine however, three Murle were killed during the fight”, Minister John stated in briefed statement appeared on media.

According to State official Spokesman, the assailants went away with hundreds of herds of cattle but youths are still pursuing them.

John said another incident was reported in Uror County, where suspected armed Murle youth raided a cattle camp in a place called “Kaar” which is located 5km from County Headquarters-Yuai.

“.. The youth of the area pursued the attackers and managed to recover their cattle. One person was injured and is now in Yuai PHCC”, he added.

Minister John Samuel Manyuon condemned the attacks and calls on Greater Pibor Administrative Area to investigate and bring to book the attackers.

“. It is high time and important that the people of Greater Jonglei have peace and live in harmony. we send our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and we wish the injured persons quick recovery”, John added.

Nyamilepedia’s editorial member has made unsuccessful calls to reach the Information Minister of Greater Pibor Administrative Area for a comment and Nyamilepedia could not independently verify the accuracy of this information.
