November 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) has arrested a young man in Western Bahr el Ghazal state capital Wau over criticism of latest pre-transitional period extension, family member said.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny last week meet in Entebbe, Uganda, and decided to extend the pre-transitional period pushing forward the formation of a unity government which would government the country for a 36 months.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Monday, a family member who identified himself as “Angelo” (not his real name) said the young man he identified as Valentino Beda was arrested at Suk Hajar in Wau after he said the latest extension means extension for President Salva Kiir’s term.

“He was arrested on Saturday because he said President “Salva [Kiir] is not bothered by the extension because he would continue buying time,'” he family member said.

Angelo said he do not know where Beda is being kept by the national security saying the police were reluctant to open a case regarding the arrest and they said it was not under their jurisdiction to rein on the matter.
