July 7th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The permanent ceasefire agreement signed in Khartoum by President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon has been observed through out the country without any armed clashes since last week, the Nyamilepedia has observed.
On July 1st 2018, the opposition and the government accused each other of attacking the other but previous days, relative calm across the country has been observed and forces still staying in their previous positions.
The price for one United States Dollar and that of the fuel has dramatically declined raising hope that the country’s economy would improve should the parties strike a final peace agreement this month.
President Kiir, opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar are currently in the Ugandan capital Kampala for a face-to-face meeting aimed at deliberating on pending issues that negotiating teams were unable to produce during the two week Khartoum talks.
The two leaders, Kiir and Machar, met last month in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and met also two days later in the Sudanese capital Khartoum for the second time since July 2016 and signed the Khartoum Declaration of Agreement in which the two leaders agreed to share power for the third time in a new, but a revised version of the previous peace agreement known as the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.
The Kampala meeting is hosted by the Ugandan leader, President Yoweri Museveni and Sudanese President Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir.
