Juba,
Dec 11, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —–The SPLA has not been ordered to kill and has no intention to kill Equatorians, SPLA chief of general staff, Paul Malong Awan has said.
In a press statement yesterday, Gen. Malong strongly dismissed the United Nations and US reports on alleged genocide in the country.

The reports say a number of villages were burnt down in Yei, amassing of the 4,000 troops being trained in Luri to accomplish genocide, allegedly being planned in the country. However, Gen. Malong termed the report as “baseless.”
“There are no 4,000 troops being trained in Luri. This is completely false. In fact, the SPLA does not have any forces in Luri, what is there are about 400 presidential guards who are about to commence training on civil-military,” he said.
He said that SPLA fought for freedom of all South Sudanese adding that “it would be a total contradiction to the liberation ideals should the SPLA turn on its own citizens who they are constitutionally mandated to protect.”
The army chief said the SPLA is challenging the UN and foreign diplomats to visit the alleged villages.
“The SPLA is fully expressingits readiness to provide protection for any fact-finding mission that aims toassess the situation on ground,” he said.
Malong said the army is issuing a stern warning to all those “propagating fear and divisive statements in the country to refrain from such undertakings.”
“South Sudan as a sovereign nation has the right and the capacity to protect its citizens and in doing so it must deal with both internal and external aggressors in order to maintain law and order in the country,” the SPLA chief of general staff stated.
“I want to make it very clear that the SPLA cannot and will not allow the followers of Dr. Riek Machar or any other militia groups to massacre the people of South Sudan, these elements will be categorically defeated.” He warns
Efforts by Press to reach the UN and diplomatic missions in the country for comments on the story were fruitless by press time.
