December 1, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——-  The new President of the Sudan Catholic Bishop’s Conference, (SCBC) on November29 met the Jieng Council of Elders to work together for peace in South Sudan.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala recognizes elders’ role in working for national welfare.

The new SCBC President says together as South Sudanese, the recurrent conflicts in the country can be resolved.

Jieng Council of Elders believes most South Sudanese have misunderstood its role as working for tribal interest, says a member.

The member recognizes the role of the church in educating people for betterment.

Worried that many youth including the Jieng [Buor] Youth in Jonglei State are against their role in the country, the Jieng Council of Elders expresses concerns about hate speech against its organization.

The body asks the Catholic Church to establish joint boarding schools in Bahr El Ghazal accommodating all tribes to change tribal attitudes, an agenda that could be protested by the youth who see JCE role in this conflict as driving the country toward tribal hegemony.

On other hands, The new President of Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC on Tuesday visited SPLM Secretariat to acquaint himself with the party officials while seeking “cooperation”.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro tells SPLM Information Secretary, Bol Makueng Yuol that the church does not work in isolation.

Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban, who accompanied Bishop Hiiboro, graces the visit with a prayer of healing.

Makueng says South Sudan is a product of the church.

He says what seems to divide South Sudan now is difference in ideologies and lack of political will to compromise.

The visit aims at establishing better working relations between the “church and the ruling party”
