March 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A new South Sudan opposition group has threatened to take military actions against the government of President Salva Kiir over its refusal to reopen the revitalized peace agreement for renegotiation.
A group calling itself Upper Nile’s Workers Party (UWP) which is also a member of the holdout opposition alliance, National Democracy and Freedom Action (NADAFA), said the IGAD should enforce accountability so that the government of President Salva Kiir is not given immunity over the killings of thousands of Nuer civilians in Juba in December 2013.
The group said in a statement signed by its leader Gatluke Raet that military action is now necessary to prevent President Salva Kiir from getting away with the crime the group said had committed in December 2013.
“Military action is necessary and only option,” Raet said in the statement also extended to the Nyamilepedia.
“IGAD must know that Salva Kiir cannot be granted an impunity and cannot be seen as a PEACE LOVER with his hand full of the blood of……. thousands of our people,” the statement added.
