May 22, 2022 — South Sudan’s National Security Operatives of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have attacked and tried to arrest Dut Majokdit, the Chairperson of Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in the state.
Majokdit was appointed three months ago by President Kiir on the ticket of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement -In-Opposition(SPLM (IO) led by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
He has been a very vocal activist criticizing corruption and bad governance in his state and South Sudan at large.
In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, Majokdit says he was attacked but resisted the arrest attempt by forces he believed to be Security Agents of the state government.
The senior opposition official said the security operatives just took his phone after his bodyguard intervened and convinced the attackers that what they were doing was out of their mandate.
“.. The NSS deputy Director in Northern Bhar El Ghazel State has attacked and attempted to arrest me this morning at the NRC gate and he has taken my phone without reasons after I resisted the attempt with my bodyguard the interfere in the RRC Affairs and it’s not their Mandate”, Majokdit said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.
