November 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Members of South Sudan’s National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) will go for Christmas Holiday, President Kiir has reportedly told members of the peace implementing body.

South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace agreement to end the ongoing six-year old civil war which has killed thousands and displaced millions from their homes.

The agreement established the NPTC to prepare for a 36-month transitional period.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this evening, a source in the capital Juba said Kiir has told members of the NPTC not to expect a Christmas Holiday during the end of this year and at the beginning of the New Year.

This, the source said, is for the peace implementing body to embark on resolving the outstanding issues such as the security arrangements before the end of the pre-transitional period in February.

“The president told the NPTC chairman Hon. Tutkew Gatluak that they should not expect a Christmas holiday because our country is in at a critical time,” the source said. “We are in a time where our people need the peace more than any other thing ever.”
