August 6, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s national security chief general Akol Koor has reported been prevented and denied to board a plan fort Tonj North county where he operates a private airport.
The lasts report comes a few days after President Salva Kiir ordered the closure Awul airstrip which was opened by General Akol in June which had raised questions behind motives why a national security official can operate a private airport.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon from Juba, an airport official said General Akol, Koor was approached by members of Kiir’s Presidential Guards who said he was not given the permission to travel to Warrap state from the presidency.
“On Monday, General Akol Koor was about to board an airplane to Awul in Tonj. Just before he could board the plane, fifteen members of the presidential guards approached him and told him that he has not been given the permission by the presidency to travel,” the airport staff member said.
“So, he had to cancel the trip and return back to his home,” the source added.
