Sep 21, 2021— South Sudan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Gabriel Changson Chang said he has discussed with President Salva Kiir the modalities on how to improve the higher learning institutions in the country.
This came days after Hon. Gabriel Lew Chang and Vice Chancellors of Public Universities paid a courtesy call to President Kiir in his office last week and briefed him on the number of challenges facing public universities across the country.
In a statement released by Presidential Press Unit, the education minister and vice chancellors seek sustainable solutions toward addressing these concerns.
“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Hon Gabriel Changson Chang and the Vice Chancellors of Public Universities to discuss the challenges facing the public universities, the Students, and to seek amicable solutions towards addressing those issues”,the statement reads.
In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Minister Gabriel Changson said President Salva Kiir responded positively to continue to address those challenges facing the public universities across the Country in order for them to operate smoothly.
According to Chang, they discussed how to develop and strengthen higher education of learning across the Country by addressing those challenges facing the public Universities and the students.
Minister Changson in his state official visit to Cairo, Egypt last year said, the number of scholarships to foreign countries increased from 250 to 500 seats per year and also the number of postgraduate studies increased from 50 up to 100 seats per year.

We don’t need to send our young boys/girls to foreign countries, some of them we send other countries don’t come back South Sudan by the way.
