Sep 12, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Orange Democratic Movement delegates and top party leaders today held the annual county delegates conference meeting at Maranatha grounds in Migori where attendees unanimously supported the motion to impeach the Migori governor Okoth Obado.
The meeting was led by the party chairman, Hon. john Mbadi, and the secretary general Edwin Sifuna.
They said that the party found the governor unfit of office following the graft charges he is facing.
“We have resolved unequivocally that Obado will have to leave office, and this impeachment motion has the blessing of Raila unlike what others have been saying,” Mbadi said.
Mbadi said that there was no question or doubles on impeaching the governor as he alleged on Thursday.
Mbadi added that ODM party will raise a motion to impeach any member who will be facing graft charges, adding that such politicians will be barred from entering their offices.
The impeachment motion will be tabled in the Migori assembly on Tuesday.
The report confirmed that Bukira East MCA Mathews Chacha, Deputy Speaker and South Sakwa MCA, Kevin Ouma, and Majority Leader will lead the tabling and ensuring the motion passes through.
Migori senator Ayacko also supported the impeachment saying that it will help the MCA to be able to express themselves and ask questions on important matter on the count like bursaries.
“This impeachment motion will be to help MCAs stand up among residents and point out where delayed bursaries, local projects and employment opportunities they have been missing are,” Ayacko said.
Governor Okoth Obado chose to attend prayers that were prepared by the SDA church in Rapogi.
He is among the governors facing charges against graft in Kenya. Together with his children, they are facing charges of receiving 73.4 million shilling indirectly from the county through different companies.
