December 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A joint meeting between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has been postponed to Friday, opposition officials have said.
Machar arrived to Juba from the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Tuesday for talks with Kiir over the outstanding issues which includes the number and boundaries of states and the security arrangements.
The two men met on Wednesday and Machar said following the meeting that he had a fruitful meeting with his rival turned peace partner.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, an opposition official who is in Juba as part of Machar’s entourage said the meeting has been postponed owing to other commitment by President Kiir.
“The meeting has been postponed to tomorrow (Friday),” the official said on condition of anonymity. “There are other commitments the president must do according to what his office said to us this afternoon.”
