March 13, 2022 — Luis Fernando Díaz Marulanda is a 25 year-old Colombian professional footballer, who plays as a winger for Premier League club Liverpool and the Colombia national team. Diaz is the latest Liverpool signing.
He joined Liverpool very recently (January 30, 2022) and has only played 5 games but he has already scored two goals. In fact his latest goal, a beautiful header, was scored yesterday against Brighton.
𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝? A lot. Liverpool has paid €45 million (£37.5 million) on a five-year contract.
𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝? Diaz has great potential. He scored 14 goals in his 18 games in the first half of 2021–22 league games and he is already doing great in the Liverpool jersey.
In his country, Colombia, Diaz is so good and very popular for his skills that he is compared to Ronaldinho (Ronaldo de Assis Moreira) and Lionel Messi.
His performance against Brighton yesterday, March 12, 2022 was highly praised by his teammates, especially by the captain, Henderson, who spoke very highly of him after the game. Here is what Henderson had to say:
“𝐿𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑤𝑒’𝑣𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘𝑠 ℎ𝑒’𝑠 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑙, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑦𝑒𝑎ℎ 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑙, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑠, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑠 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑙, 𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘. 𝐴𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑖𝑔 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 ℎ𝑖𝑚.”
“𝑇𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦, ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑢𝑛𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑎𝑡 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠, 𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑟𝑠, 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑒’𝑠 𝑔𝑜𝑡 𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡.”
𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙀𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙇𝙔, that’s not the main reason we are writing this post about him. Would you believe it that Luis Diaz does not speak even a “broken English” but his English teammates, who do not speak his language(Spanish), and the rest of the team, still get along with him just fine and they love him already?
Here is what his Liverpool Manager, Jürgen Klopp, had to say a about him:
“𝐿𝑢𝑖𝑠 𝐷𝑖𝑎𝑧 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑙, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐻𝑎𝑟𝑣𝑒𝑦 𝐸𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑡𝑡 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝑆𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠ℎ, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑠. 𝐼 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘”
Jürgen Klopp, a German professional football manager, has been managing Liverpool, a highly diverse football club, since 2015 and although he does not speak all the languages his players speak, he gets along with all of them just fine.
