Marko Lokidor’s wife calls for justice!

June 2nd, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —— Lucia Naboya Marko, wife of Marko Lokidor, the former rebel-appointed Governor of Kapoeta State, one of the kidnapped main opposition Officials allied to Dr. Machar, calls upon the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union (AU) to discuss the release of the political detainees at the peace talks and hold perpetrators to account.

  “ It’s worrying, since he was taken out from Kakum Refugee Camp and unlawfully handed over to South Sudan Government, we never knew his whereabouts” [where he’s being kept ] and none of the SPLM-IO official paid a visit to tell us exactly if he’s still alive or not;
a source told me that Marko had passed on after he was seriously tortured by South Sudan National Security Service in Juba but I couldn’t believe” she said when asked if she has ever had communication with the SPLM-IO leadership.

Naboya, who felt let down by the SPLM/A in Opposition, said she never heard from the IO leadership and wonders if the SPLM/A[IO] really exists.

“I wonder if the SPLM-IO leadership exists. I have never heard from them [SPLM-IO ], or received a call from them, we don’t know what’s happening… I last saw someone from IO [SPLM-IO] two days later when my husband got taken away from us” she added .

Lucia also blames the Kenya Government and the UNHCR for serious violations of international Human Rights Obligations and for failing to protect those who are fleeing the war and are now under their care.

“My husband was not carrying a gun, he had nothing in his hands, he was only having a UNHCR identification card, they should never have taken him, at some points, we thought  that there’s International Law that protects refugees and their families” she said while referring to International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.

Last year Dong Samuel Luak, a prominent human rights lawyer and activist, and Aggrey Idri, a vocal government critic and member of the opposition, disappeared off in Nairobi on January 23 and 24, 2017, respectively.

They are believed to have been abducted by or at the request of South Sudanese officials, however, UhuruRuto government did very little to intervene.

In November 2016, Kenyan authorities unlawfully deported James Gatdet Dak to Juba over Facebook Posts, a South Sudanese opposition member and spokesperson for the opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar, even though he had refugee status – a move that was bitterly condemned by the Amnesty International and other International  Human Rights Organizations .

Lucia appeals to the SPLM-IO to stand in solidarity with her family,

“We are vulnerable now, I have been going to UNHCR in an attempt to see if they can do something about that issue but all in vain, so stand with us and never abandon us at this critical movement” She said.

“One of my daughters was denied to be  enrolled in Form one because she had no money left; children are sick [referring to a 7-year old boy who was suffering from Malaria]” Lucia further pleaded
