April 16th, 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The newly formed South Sudan United Front movement under the leadership of the country’s former Chief of General Staff of the SPLA 1st Lt. Gen. Paul Malong Awan has announced that it has officially applied to join the peace revitalization forum, a peace reconstruction mechanism under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Development Authority on Development (IGAD).

In a statement released by the group’s official spokesman Sunday de john, the SSUF said it is informing the citizens of South Sudan that his group has officially applied to join peace talks.

“Based on the tenets of our progress, we are informing the public that we have officially applied to IGAD for inclusion in the upcoming peace talks,” partly read the statement signed by the group’s spokesman adding that “This [application] was made on 10th of April in a letter signed by our Chairman and officially addressed to the mediation through H.E. Ismail Wais,” he added.

He farther assured the general public of the movement’s commitment with the objectives on which basis the it was formed.

Sunday warned the public about any information contrary to what the movement put down in its agenda as “propaganda”.

“However, any information contrary to this should be treated as the usual propaganda by the Juba regime. They shouldn’t communicate on our behalf or the public shouldn’t listen to them communicating for us,” he said adding that “we are also informing the public that we are part of the South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and we stand with them in their recent proposal on the way forward to peace process,” in South Sudan.

He further added that their movement is for peace and is not interested in solving the country’s crisis through war.

“Notwithstanding, we are for peace because war isn’t the best path South Sudanese should always take although it is the usual best alternative enforced on every dissenting voice by the regime in Juba,” he said.

He promised to liberate South Sudan from “all injustices enforced on them by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.”
