December 21st, 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan United Front (SSUF) led by former South Sudan’s army chief Gen. Paul Malong Awan urged on Friday members of South Sudan army to abandon and capture government garrisons across the country.
The appeal came two days after the rebel group told the IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Ismail Wais that it is interested in solving the ongoing conflict peacefully.
In a statement issued on Friday, the SSUF spokesman, Emmanuel Sunday de’John, appealed to members of the South Sudan army to rebel against President Salva Kiir’s government.
“It is high time that you continue with the mass exodus in the abandonment of the garrisons or their capturing. We can no longer wait, the regime must fall,” said the statement issued on Friday.
“You are asked to be firm. Don’t surrender to the government after you have started, exert your efforts and change the course of things,” added the statement.
The statement further claimed the governor in Juba has no roots making it incapable to continue fighting opposition groups urging those with the negative view of the government to not surrender to the regime.
“The government in Juba has no pillars and thus is incapable of standing but is making the last kicks of the dying horse, that must be avoided through valor and action. Never surrender to a wounded leopard because it has no mercy,” the statement further said.
