January 14th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by ex-army chief Gen. Paul Malong Awan has condemned this week’s killing of a University lecturer in the capital Juba.

On Sunday, a lecturer at the University of Juba was on Sunday evening shot and killed in cold blood by unidentified gunmen. The killing sparked protests from Juba university students who for their part condemned and demanded investigation from the government.

In a statement on Monday, the SSUF/A condemned the killing urging end to the “issue of unknown gunmen” in the country’s capital. It further decried the government silence on the so called unknown gunmen.

“This issue of unknown gunmen should cease. Killing our younger generation is of course a drawback for the country. However, the unknown culprits have maimed the nation and the government is silent on this,” the armed opposition group said in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

“The South Sudan United Front/Army condemns this with the strongest possible terms. The act is inhuman and must be stopped. Government of South Sudan has failed almost in everything, but it must not fail to protect the lives of innocent citizens and more so, killing of the few professionals on whom the nation can rely,” the statement issued by the group’s spokesman Sunday de John further added.
