June 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former SPLA Chief of General Staffs Gen. Paul Malong Awan has urged the members of the Gogrial Youth Union to work for Kiir’s departure from the leadership instate of advising him to accommodate opposition officials which he said will not solves the current civil war in the young African country.

“I urged the Gogrial Youth union leadership to directly bare the truth. The best advice that they should offer to Salva Kiir Mayardiit is that he relinquishes his position so as to give South Sudanese the opportunity to get for themselves a new leader with new ideas and new direction. Tell him outright that Malong doesn’t want a position but Kiir’s exit,” Malong’s spokesman said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

Malong’s spokesman, Sunday de John said in the statement date 8th June 2018 that their attention has been accentuated to a letter by the Gokrial Youth organization date May 24th addressed to the South Sudanese president urging Kiir to appoint Malong as a cabinet minister.

“Our attention has been accentuated to a letter dated May 24 2018 drawn by Nella Achuek Mabior Achuil, Chairperson of the Gogrial State Youth Union to H.E Salva Kiir Mayardiit in which she, among other things blamed a cabal around the presidency for the mess raging in South Sudan and further made recommendations that Gen. Paul Malong Awan and others be appointed as Cabinet ministers,” the statement said.

The statement accused the president of shifting towards working with informal advisory boards which the statement said includes the Gogrial Youth Union which called for the appointment of Gen. Paul Malong to a cabinet position in the incumbent Salva Kiir government..

“It has been noted that since independence, in 2011, President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has shifted to working with informal advisory boards and this Gogrial Youth Union Isn’t exceptional. What these advisory boards do is to extend their blame-game through earmarking of some individuals as bogeymen that always been maligned and blamed for any problems the country had faced or maybe facing,” the statement said.

The statement accused the unidentified advisory boards of extending their blame game to some individuals which it said includes Malong himself and some in Kiir’s government.

“It is true that our attention has been deceptively been directed towards these bogeymen but the mandate to run the country is in most parts for President Salva Kiir Mayardiit. Although his legitimacy for the office and usefulness to the country have long  gone, he was once elected and thus should have been as a matter of trust and responsibility runs the country with competency,” it added.

The statement further added that President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has failed in his mandate as the leader of the world’s youngest nation saying the president is always quick to pass on the blame to other.

“Unfortunately, the President has failed in his mandate and has always been quick to pass on the blame to all and sundry but himself. At one point, the prime bogeyman was Amb. Telar Ring Deng, it then moved to Gen. Paul Malong and currently the blames is on the shoulders of Gen. Akol Koor and Hon. Mayiik Ayii,” the statement said.

The statement said the South Sudan United Front/Army is more interested in finding lasting solutions to the current crisis with intention to fix the country once and for all. Throwing around positions to the opponents may not necessarily solve the crisis. We need an honest conversation with ourselves where we will be able to alter the architecture of our governance structure so as to effectively respond to the suffering of our people.
