July 24th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former army chief of general staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan says president Salva Kiir, his former boss, is a war profiteer and as such he would never cease perpetuating the ongoing civil war in the young African country.

The remark by Malong followed a statement by the United States of America threatening to withdraw its funding of South Sudan citing lack of commitment by the South Sudan government to bringing peace to the war-torn country.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the country’s former powerful chief of staff says president Kiir is determined to remain in power saying the president is determined to further perpetuate the ongoing civil war.

“President Salva Kiir is determined to remain in power for life despite his inability to restore peace. Nonetheless, he is determined to continuously keep on perpetuating war and economic downturn,” Malong said in a statement signed by him on Sunday.

Malong further accused the Mr. Kiir of being a war profiteer who will never work for the end of the ongoing bloody civil war whose continuation favors him further accusing him of being behind the unknown gunmen which has killed hundreds in the national capital and else where in the country.

“In a different developments, he is a war profiteer that will never cease from perpetuating war and the use of the unknown gunmen until such time that is government is completely overhaul and the system reforms effected,” Malong further said.

Malong was appointed by Kiir as the SPLA top General in 2014 to “crash rebellion in 30 days” and stayed on until May 2017 after falling out with president following an accusation leveled against him by the country’s chief of security Akol Koor who advised Kiir to remove him before it is too late.

Malong was dismissed in May 2017 from the position and went to Yirol heading to his hometown Aweil in protest of the dismissal but was forcefully returned to the capital Juba where he was since detained in an house arrest until his release in November that year after Dinka elders convinced Kiir to release him on humanitarian grounds due to his deteriorating health condition.

He went to Nairobi where he finally formed a rebel group known as South Sudan United Front/Army accusing Kiir of looting the country to bankruptcy.
