Mar 21st 2018(Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former army Chief of Staff General Paul Malong met on Sunday the head of the Sudanese national Security and Intelligence Service Salah Al-Gosh among other high-ranking Sudanese officials, sources in Khartoum told Nyamilepedia.

The latest development in Malong’s file dismisses early claims that Malong did not travel to Khartoum as reported by Radio Tamazuj quoting family members. Malong is said to have left Nairobi Kenya for a visit to the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa and was expected to return to Nairobi on Sunday, the same day he appeared in Khartoum.

Reports from from the Ministry of foreign Affairs suggested that the visit by Paul Malong to the Sudanese Capital was organized by the South Sudan’s former ambassador to the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan Telar Ring Deng who arrived in Khartoum almost a week ahead of Malong’s arrival.

Malong to Meet Al-Bashir

Malong is reportedly set to meet the Sudanese Presdient Omar Al-bashir over the weekend as it has been agreed upon by Malong and Al-Gosh and the country’s Vice President and Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Saleh.

Malong was removed from the top army position in May 2017 and was subsequently placed under house arrest after being forcefully returned from Yirol while leaving for his home town Aweil in protest of the removal.

In November 2017 following mediation led by the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE), Malong was freed and was allowed to travel to Nairobi on medical grounds but the deal didn’t allow him to travel to his home town Aweil.

Early this year, the South Sudan government asked Kenya for approval to deport the former army Chief after leaking of audio-tapes reportedly exposing Malong talking to loyalist field commanders in the SPLA to rebel and attack government held positions including the national capital Juba beside Wau among other areas.
