Sep 14, 2021 — South Sudan United Front/Army, a rebel faction under the leadership of the former Chief of Staff of the SPLA, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, calls on Kitgwang Faction under the leadership of Gen. Simon Gatwech to stop trying to drag them into their own internal issues.
Responding to SPLM/A-IO Kitgwang latest press releases on social media, SSUF/A Deputy Military Spokesperson, Maj. Philip Deng Kuol Nguot, clarifies that their forces have not been involved in Kitgwang affairs and they have no interests in reinforcing their activities or objectives.
“The office of the SSUF/A Deputy Military Spokesperson, do hereby emphatically assures the general public that, the SSUF/A gallant forces, particularly the Upper Nile command, has never been involved in that flaring war in Kit-gwang SPLM/A-IO splinter group military outpost, as it has been alleged!” Maj. Philip Deng Kuol Nguot said.
“This unfounded news has been circulated on social media by Machar’s led-SPLM/A-IO loyalists. The sources claim that, SSUF/A forces loyal to Gen. Paul Malong Awan has been sighted in the frontline by backing up Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual’s splinter group in combating his rival Riek Machar..” He continued.
According to Maj. Philip Deng Kuol, the claims that their forces backed Kitgwang SPLA-IO forces in latest clashes in northern Upper Nile is “a white lie designed and fabricated by the enemy of peace”
“Take a note. The SSUF/A under the leadership of Gen. Paul Malong, has no any intrigues or intention to back up Gen. Gatwech Dual’s momentum or avails any reinforcements in the hot spot Magenis…this is a total white lie designed and fabricated by the enemy of peace as a one of their mechanism towards our downfall as they missed.” Deng Kuol said.
The SSUF/A calls on its commanding officers in Upper Nile State to distance themselves from the SPLM/A-IO internal crises and warns SPLM/A-IO to cease their “belligerent language” that may force the government to stop the ongoing Rome Peace Accords.
“So, the SSUF/A invincible forces under the command of 1st. Lt. Gen. Philip Stephen Dak and others in Upper Nile State, have never been instructed by the highest consideration to mighty carry out the confrontation with any opponent concerns. So, the SSUF/A assures the general public to treat any trending news as baseless allegations for it actually appeared to be a vicious lie! And the SPLM/A-IO should cease from this belligerent language for it could shun the ongoing Rome Peace Accords.” He said.
The SSUF/A Deputy spokesman reiterates that their armed group remains committed to the Cease of Hostilities of December 21st, 2021 and remains committed to Rome based peace talks.
“The SSUF/A under the leadership of Gen. Paul Malong Awan is direly still respecting the cessation of hostilities that we had to inked on 21st of December 2017 and later timely revised both in Rome and Naivasha, for it’s the only option that will benefit the downtrodden South Sudanese and emancipate their living standards!” SSUF/A Press release concludes.
